A preventable disease

It can be defined as an abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat that imposes a risk to overall health. The cases of obesity have tripled today compared to 1975 according to WHO. IN 2016 about 1.9 billion adults (i.e. 39% of adults) were identified as overweight.

Diabetes mellitus, commonly known as diabetes, is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar. The hormone insulin moves sugar from the blood into your cells for energy.

The number of people with diabetes rose from 108 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014. In 2016, an estimated 1.6 million deaths were directly caused by diabetes. Another 2.2 million deaths were attributable to high blood glucose in 2012.
